- Show me the Gogi – last night in Busan.
We haven’t had proper Korean BBQ yet, so we found out where the Koreans go in Haeundae and ended up at Show me the Gogi. It was delicious.
Wir hatten bisher noch kein richtiges Koreanische BBQ, also haben wir uns schlau gemacht wo die skoreaner in Haeundae Gegrilltes essen und sind bei Show me the Gogi gelandete es war sooo lecker. 😋

- Busan Sky Capsule – a beach train
It’s a beach train which leaves at Mipo station and goes all the way to Cheongsapo Station along the water. You’ll get your own capsule, that’s nice, but it also means be there early or it’s sold out. 😬
Es ist ein Zug, der am Wasser entlang fährt von Mipo zu Cheongsapo Station. Man bekommt seine eigene Kapsel, das ist nett, aber es heißt auch man sollte früh da sein, denn es ist schnell ausverkauft. 😬

From Cheongsapo Station you take a different, quicker train. Which also stops on the route to allow you exploring.
Ab Cheongsapo Station fährt dann ein schnellerer Zug, der auch überall hält. Damit man auch Zwischenstopps einlegen kann.
- Haeundae rice cakes “호랑이 젤라떡” (Horangi Jella Tteok)
Another must try when you are im Busan is the famous Horangi Jella Tteok. These are rice cakes filled with ice cream.
Ein weiteres leckeres Erlebnis waren die berühmten Horangi Jella Tteok. Das sind Reiskuchen mit Eisfüllung. 😋
No, we didn’t buy them because of the Logo 😂, we’ll Arthur did probably. Hahahhaha

We chose seosan seaweed caramel, roasted pistachios, my favorite cookie and almond mint chocolate chip.
They were so good and we got a bit of a sunburn this day at the beach. 😂
- Busan The X Sky
Busan is the second biggest city in Korea, so there is a lot to do. We went up to floor 100 on The X Sky to enjoy the view.
Busan ist die zweitgrößte Stadt in Korea, es gibt also eine Menge zu tun. Wir sind zum 100 Stockwerk des The Sky X hochgefahren um die Aussicht zu genießen.

On floor 99 is a Starbucks and only there you’ll get the X The Sky keychain.

- Busan speciality Dwaejigukbap
We wanted to eat the famous Busan Dwaejigukbap and we came across this restaurant on Main Street. Normally we don’t do Main Street restaurants, we prefer more local side street ones. But this one was the best excepted made. Always a long queue of Koreans. And Also a few famous people ate there. So we queued and had the best Dwaejigukbap ever! Even better then the Michelin one we had in Seoul last year. Dwaejigukbap is a simple soup, cooked for 48 Hours with pork bones until the soup gets creamy. It will be served with pork meat, spring onions and rice on the side. The soup is without spices, so you can adjust it to your own preference. Also it comes with Banchan and you can order a side of Bossam, which is cooked pork belly. 😋
Wir wollten unbedingt die berühmte Busan Suppe Dwaejigukbap essen und sind auf dieses Restaurant auf der Hauptstraße in Haeundae gestoßen. Normalerweise gehen wir nicht in die Hauptstraßen Restaurants, wir bevorzugen die lokalen, kleinen in Seitenstraßen. Aber wir sind froh, dass wir eine Ausnahme gemacht haben. Vor dem Lokal ist immer eine lange Schlange von Koreanern. Auch Berühmtheiten haben dort schon gegessen. Und wir hatten die beste Dwaejigukbap Suppe jemals, besser als die Michelin Star in Seoul. Dwaejigukbap ist eine simple Schweineknochen Suppe, diese wird 48 Stunden langsam gekocht bis eine cremig weiße Konsistenz entsteht. Die Suppe kommt komplett ungewürzt, so kann man sie an seinen persönlichen Geschmack anpassen. Sie kommt mit Schweinefleisch und Frühlingszwiebeln in der Suppe und Reis auf der Seite. Und natürlich Banchan. Man kann auch Bossam dazu bestellen, das ist gekochter Schweinebauch. 😋

Arthur isst seine Suppe scharf mit Koreanischer roter Paprika Paste. Aber ich bevorzuge den natürlichen Geschmack der Suppe ohne Ablenkung durch Schärfe.
We loved the soup so much we went there twice. 😋
Uns hat die Suppe so gut geschmeckt, dass wir gleich 2 Mal dort waren. 😋

Eins muss repariert werden nach dem Regen gestern. 
- And we’re back in Busan – Haeundae Beach this time
Last time we’ve been in Busan we stayed close to the Center around BIFF square and Jagalchi Fish Market. Which was great for first timers, but we loved the area around Haeundae beach and Totally underestimated the size of Busan. Busan is the second biggest City in Korea and therefore it takes you ages to get from A to B. Especially from the Center to the beaches.
Letztes Mal als wir in Busan waren hatten wir ein Hotel im Zentrum am BIFF Square und Jagalchi Fischmarkt. Was super für den Erstbesuch von Busan war, aber wir haben uns in die Gegend um Haeundae verliebt und komplett die Größe von Busan unterschätzt. Busan ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Koreas und es dauert Ewigkeiten um von A nach B zu kommen. Speziell vom Zentrum zu den Stränden.

- Gohado Observatory
Koreans love their hikes. We walked up the hill to the Observatory and found out we had to climb up another six stories of steps. 😂
Koreaner lieben Wanderungen. Wir sind den Berg hochgelaufen und haben oben herausgefunden, dass man die 6 Stockwerke zur Aussichtsplattform auch hinaufsteigen muss. Nix Lift. 😂

- Hanok Yeongsanjae stay
We did book a lovely Hanok stay for 3 nights. Unlike Japan where we did sleep on tatami mats in a traditional Ryokan, we could book the Hanok with a mattress. We figured out in Japan we‘re not made for sleeping on the floor, but the mattress is comfy. 😂Only the underfloor heating was killing us last night. You could feel the heat of the floor through the mattress and it was way too hot for us. It’s 25 degrees here and we don’t need heating. Thank god I found the off button in the morning.
Wir haben für 3 Nächte ein schönes Hanok Hotel gebucht. Nicht so wie in Japan, wo wir im traditionellen Ryokan auf Tatami Matten am Boden geschlafen haben, konnten wir hier ein Zimmer mit Matratze buchen. Wir haben bereits in Japan festgestellt, dass wir nicht dafür gemacht sind auf dem Boden zu schlafen. 😂 aber die Matratze ist sehr gemütlich. Nur die Fußbodenheizung hat uns heute Nacht gekillt. Man konnte die Wärme durch die Matratze fühlen und für uns war das viel zu warm. Es hat hier 25 Grad und wir brauchen nicht die Fussbodenheizung. Gott sei Dank habe ich heute Morgen den Aus-Schalter gefunden.

We also got a traditional Korean breakfast. Very nice, but way to much. And I need to go to Starbucks for a big Coffee. 😂
Wir haben auch traditionelles koreanisches Frühstück bekommen. Sehr lecker, aber zu viel und ich muss zu Starbucks für einen großen Kaffee. 😂

- Koreans and their Coffee shops part 3 – and Gwangju observatory
We walked up the hill to the observatory to have a nice view on the city. And we found the cutest little coffee place on the way down called Casa del Coffee.
Wir sind den Hügel rauf zum Aussichtsturm gelaufen um den Ausblick zu genießen und auf dem Weg nach unten haben wir das süßeste, kleine Café gefunden mit Namen Casa del Coffee.
We ordered normal lattes, one iced one hot. And then the owner did bring us Nut Lattes on the house and that was the most delicious thing I’ve tasted.
Wir haben normale Lattes heiß und Iced bestellt und dann hat uns der Eigentümer kostenlose Nusskaffee gebracht. Die waren Mega lecker.

To be fair, we did expect to make Kimchi today, but we didn’t know that we had to book Kimchi making class in advance. So we just had a look around the museum.
Ehrlich gesagt wollten wir heute Kimchi machen, aber wir wussten nicht, dass man das vorab online buchen muss. Also haben wir uns nur das Kimchi Museum angeschaut.
What did we learn? You can make Kimchi of everything. My favorite one is Octopus Kimchi.
Und was haben wir gelernt? Man kann Kimchi aus allen machen. mein Lieblingskimchi ist Oktopuskimchi.
- Bunker The Space
It was raining today so before we did drive on, we went to a multimedia museum in an old bunker in Jeonju. Very impressing idea of use.
Heute hat es geregnet also sind wir bevor wir weitergefahren sind noch in ein Multimedia Museum in einem alten Bunker in Jeonju gegangen. sehr coole Idee.

Ausserhalb des Hanok Village auf einem Hügel liegt das Jeonju Wandbilder Dorf. Ich denke die mussten sich was einfallen lassen, damit die Touristen auch diesen Teil von Jeonju besuchen. Dort gibt es ein paar schöne Cafés und Bars.
A bit outside of the Hanok Village on a hill is Jeonju mural Village. I think they built it so tourists also visit this part of Jeonju. It’s got a few lovely cafes and bars.

- A stroll through Jeonju Hanok Village
Liqueur museum Jeonju has its own Makgeolli/ rice wine called Moju and is is delicious. It is basically rice wine with different herbs and spices and it tastes like liquid Christmas.
Jeonju hat seine eigene Art von Makgeolli/ Reiswein, er heißt Moju und ist sehr lecker. Es ist ein Reiswein der mit verschiedenen Gewürzen und Kräutern gebraut wurde und schmeckt wie flüssige Weihnachten.

Jeonju is also the birthplace of Kalguksu, which means a hand cut noddle soup. We went to a shop called Veteran noodles – highly recommended. It’s a little bit outside the touristy paths so many locals eat here.
Jeonju ist auch die Geburtsstätte von Kalguksu, einer Suppe mit handgemachten Nudeln. Wir hatten sie in einem Restaurant das Veteran Noodles heißt und etwas abgelegen der Touristenpfade liegt, deshalb essen hier auch viele Einwohner.

Gyeonggijeon Shrine was erected in 1410 and holds the portrait of King Tae-jo, the founder of the Joseon dynasty.

Jetzt sind wir hier in Jeonju und blicken von unserem Hotelzimmer auf das Hanok village mit den traditionellen Koreanischen Häuschen.

Jeonju is the Birthplace of Bibimbap – which is a rice based dish with veggie and meat toppings and ofc Gochuchang. Bibimbap translates in Mix it (Bibim) and rice (bap) so you know what to do. 😂

We also stopped at Iksan Mireuksa Temple Site Pagoda and the Iksan national museum.
This large stone pagoda stands on the site once occupied by Mireuksa, the largest Buddhist temple of the Baekje Period. Currently, only the first six stories of the pagoda are intact. The Baekje Periode was replaced be Silla in 660 past Christ.
Wir haben auch beim Iksan Mireuksa Temple Site Pagoda und Iksan National Museum gestoppt. Die Steinpagode steht auf dem einst größten Buddhisten Temple der Baekje Periode früher von den Mireuksa bewohnt. Baekje Periode wurde nach 660 n. Chr durch Silla Periode abgelöst.

- 이화동산 – Doenjang – fermented Soy paste maker
Yesterday on our way south we did stop at an organic soy paste and soy sauce maker. Doenjang is the traditional fermented thick soy bean paste and the base for Gochujang and Ssamjang. Gochuchang is the popular hot red pepper soy bean paste, Ssamjang is a mild seasoned so bean paste.
Gestern haben wir auf unserem Weg in den Süden bei einem Bio Soja Pasten und Soja Saucen Hersteller gestoppt. Doenjang ist eine traditionelle, fermentierte Sojabohnen Paste und die Basis für Gochuchang and Ssamjang. Gochuchang ist die scharfe rote Sojabohnen Paste und Ssamjang ist eine milde, gewürzte Sojabohnen Paste.

- Suwon Starfield
Starfield is a shopping mall, but besides shopping you go there for the impressive Library. It’s over three stories high and we’ve got no clue how you get books from the higher shelves, but it looks impressive. 😂
Starfield ist ein Einkaufszentrum, aber neben dem Shoppen geht man dort zur Bücherei. Die ist mehr als 3 Stockwerke hoch und wir haben keine Ahnung wie man die Bücher von den hohen Regalen bekommt, schaut aber gut aus. 😂
And heaven is right next to the library 😂.
Und der Himmel ist gleich neben der Bücherei. 😂
Truffle salt bread, truffle scone, truffle focaccia and ofc truffle lattes. There is no such thing as too much truffle. 😂

And we’re moving on, driving south for about an hour to a city called Suwon. We’ve been there last year, but we liked it so much, that we wanted to stop again in our way further south.
Und weiter geht es, wir fahren ca eine Stunde in Richtung Süden zu einer Stadt mit Namen Suwon. Dort waren wir letztes Jahr schon, aber es hat uns so gut gefallen, dass wir noch einmal dort stoppen auf unserem Weg Richtung Süden.

We walked all the way to an observation platform called Gtower for a nice sunset view over the city. Only to find out it’s closed for renovation until July! It’s been closed for 2 months now and nobody updated the website…
Wir sind bis zu einer Aussichtsplattform Gtower gelaufen und wollten den Ausblick bei Sonnenuntergang genießen. Nur um heraus zu finden, dass der Tower seit 2 Monaten für Renovierungsarbeiten geschlossen ist. Bis Juli und niemand hat die Webseite erneuert…

- Heungnyunsa Temple
Und heute gab es nicht nur Kuchen und Krieg, sondern auch einen wunderschönen Tempel auf einem Berg und natürlich mit eine Trilliarden Stufen. 😂 Man sagt im Heungnyunsa Temple liegen die Gebeine Buddhas in der Bronze Pagoda. Die nicht Bronze sondern golden war. Aber wen stört das?
Today we didn’t only have cake and war, we went to a beautiful temple on a hill and of course with trillions of steps.😂 It is claimed buddhas bones are buried in the bronze pagoda. Which wasn’t bronze but golden… but who cares?

Tomorrow is Buddhas birthday, that’s why there are lanterns everywhere. You can write down a wish and attach it to a lantern so it ma come true.
Morgen ist Buddhas Geburtstag , deshalb hängen wieder überall Laternen. Man kann eine Wunsch aufschreiben und an eine Laterne hängen, so dass er wahr wird.
Inside one of the prayer rooms are more than 1 Million Buddha statues.
In einem der Gebetsräume stehen mehr als 1 Millionen Buddha Statuen.
Sind das Azaleen? Die blühen gerade überall. 🤩🤩

- Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation
Außer Café haben wir heute natürlich auch ein bisschen Kultur gemacht. Die Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation ist ein Denkmal für die Unterstützung der USA und Vereinten Nationen im Koreakrieg. Erinnert Eich an gestern aus Wolmi-do Island, wo die US Truppen a Land gegangen sind? Ein strategisches Meisterwerk mit dem die Nordkoreaner nicht gerechnet haben und so zurück gedrängt werden konnten.
Besides Cafe we did do some cultural activities today. Memorial Hall for Incheon Landing Operation is a Memorial for the support of the USA and United Nations during the Korean War. Remember yesterday, the landing of the operation in Wolmi-do Island? A strategic masterplan that North Korea didn’t expect and therefore could be forced back.
Inside is a museum that tells the story of the landing.

- Korean Cafés are something else part 1
Last year we’ve been to famous cafe Onion Anguk, a Hanouk Cafe. Which means traditional Korean style. Beautiful location. But today we’ve been at Forest Outings and all I can say… Beautiful! What an enchanting place. 🤩
Letztes Jahr waren wir im berühmten Café Onion Anguk, einem Hanouk Cafe in traditionellen koreanischen Stil. Ein wunderschöner Ort. Aber heute waren wir im Forest Outings und ich kann einfach nur wunderschön sagen!! 🤩 was für ein verzauberter Ort.

Die Koreaner essen Berge von Kuchen und Süssem und haben glaube ich alle Diabetes. Die sind nur schlank, weil sie Trilliarden Stufen und Berge jeden Tag laufen. 😂
Koreans eat a massive amount of sugar and sweet stuff, I think they all have Diabetes. They are only slim, because they climb trillions of stairs and mountains every day.

Wolmi -do ist eine kleine Vergnügungs-Insel bei Chinatown. Man fährt mit einer Monorail auf die Insel, die die Insel umrundet. Wolmi-do ist ein großer Vergnügungspark mit Live Shows, Fahrgeschäften, Cafés und Restaurants.
Wolmi-do is a small pleasure Island next to China Town. you’ll get there with a monorail. Which goes around the island. Wolmi-do is basically an amusement park with live acts, roller coasters, cafes and restaurants.

Wolmi-do also has a historical record. In the 1950 during the Korean War, the Americans did land here with group support. Which helped South Korea to fight North Korea back. Technically both countries are still at war, but agreed to a peace treaty which was never signed.
Wolmi-do hat natürlich auch eine historische Bedeutung. In den 1950 landeten hier während des Korea Krieges die amerikanischen Truppen. Sie halfen Südkorea Nordkorea zu bekämpfen. Rein technisch sind beide Länder noch im Krieg, aber man einigte sich auf ein Friedensabkommen, das aber nie unterschrieben wurde.
- Incheon China Town
Unseren ersten vollen Tag in Korea haben wir in China Town begonnen und später nach einem Abstecher nach Wolmi Island und Sinpo international market auch in China Town beendet.

Of course we’ve been to the Jajangmyeon museum in China Town. Jajangmyeon is the most popular Chinese- Korean dish. Noodles with black bean Sauce.

- Hansik – The taste of Korea
Hansik means traditional Korean food. Always with rice, a soup, protein and lots of Banchan including Kimchi . Of course. Kimchi in Korea just hits different. Most of the restaurants make their own or buy it at the local food market and it tastes so good.
Hansik ist traditionelle koreanische Küche. und besteht immer aus Reis, Suppe, Protein und vielen Banchan, natürlich inklusive Kimchi. Kimchi hier in Korea schmeckt anders. Die meisten Restaurants machen ihn selber oder kaufen ihn auf dem Market. Und er schmeckt so gut.
We ordered on safe dish we already knew and one adventurous dish. Last year my big goal was trying abalone. So nice 😋. But this year my goal is to be even more adventurous, so I started with raw soy marinated crabs. 🦀 . What a lovely dish. Very light, smooth with a subtle taste. I mean raw fish is not the problem, we do eat sushi after all. I am just not brave enough yet to eat the food alive. 😂 and might never be….
Wir haben ein sicheres Gericht bestellt, das wir bereits kannten und ein neues Gericht. Letztes Jahr in Korea war mein Ziel Abalone zu probieren. Soooo lecker. 😋 Dieser Jahr habe ich mir vorgenommen noch mutiger zu sein und gleich mit Soja marinierten rohen Krabben 🦀 angefangen. Ein wunderbares Gericht. Sehr leicht, weich und subtil im Geschmack. Roher Fisch ist kein Problem, wir essen ja auch Sushi. Ich bin nur noch nicht mutig genug Lebendes zu essen. 😂 und das werde ich wahrscheinlich auch nie sein…

Unser geliebter Makgeolli darf natürlich nicht fehlen. 😋 44000 Won which is about 28 Euros. 😱Eating out in Korea is really cheap. But you always have to order a main for every person. You can not share a main. Food comes with lots of side dishes and there is always so much left over which is really sad.
44000 Won für dieses Essen, das sind ca. 28 Euro. Essen gehen ist so günstig in Korea. Aber Du musst immer pro Person ein Hauptgericht bestellen. Du kannst nicht eines zum teilen bestellen. Da das Hauptgericht immer mit so vielen Beilagen kommt bleibt leider immer viel übrig.
- Incheon Area day and night
Our hotel is located at Central Park in Incheon, so we bumbled around on our arrival day. It’s a beautiful recreation area, lots of cafes and restaurants around and nicely lit up at night.
Unser Hotel ist in Incheon am central Park, also sind wir dort am Ankunftstag etwas rumgebummelt. Ein schönes Erholungsgebiet mit vielen Cafés und Restaurants. Nachts ist es schön beleuchtet.

Sie sind wieder auf Tour 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷 Mit einigen Anlaufschwierigkeiten sind wir jetzt an Board 😀. Gestern hat sich unser Zug entschieden einfach nur bis Frankfurt HBF zu fahren und nicht bis Flughafen. Warum auch immer – also ab ins Taxi zum Flughafenhotel. Und in der Nacht kommen komische emails von Finnair, dass wir mit Dat LT nach Helsinki fliegen… und dann doch nicht. Zum Glück! Und jetzt sitzen wir in einer Lufthansa Maschine nach Helsinki. Gibt schlimmeres. 😂Umsteigezeit in Helsinki sind nur 50 Minuten inklusive Passkontrolle, aber das sollte machbar sein. Wir sitzen ganz vorne 😀. Unser Gepäck schafft es vielleicht nicht, aber wir sind vorbereitet und haben einen Kabinen Koffer mit Kleidern für 2 Tage.
With a few troubles at the beginning we’re finally on our first plane. 😀 yesterday our train decided to stop in Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and not go to Frankfurt Airport. Okay… so we took a Taxi to our Airport hotel. and then during the night, weirded emails from Finnair arrived that we’re rebooked on a Dat LT flight to Helsinki and then no you are not. We’re looking for a solution… thank God! Who wants to fly Dat LT?? And now we’re sitting in a nice Lufthansa plane to Helsinki. Could be worse 😂. We’ve only got 50 minutes to change planes including Passport Control, but it should be doable. Luggage might not make it. But we’re prepared and got a cabin suitcase with clothes for 2 days with us.

Hotel room wasn’t ready so we went for lunch to a tiny little restaurant behind the hotel. They were so happy to have us. Only one dish on the menu and it was sooooo good. 🥵 galbi jjim – braised pork. 😋😋 only a little 🔥 🥵 hot. 😂😂 the rest is banchan – side dishes that come with the Main. In this case seaweed soup, fish cakes, radish kimchi, salad and sauces. What a lovely start. And only 6 Pounds per Person.
Unser Hotelzimmer war noch nicht fertig also sind wir g’schwind zum Mittag essen gegangen. Gleich hinter unserem Hotel ein kleines Restaurant mit nur einem Gericht auf der Karte. Galbi Jjim- scharf 🥵 🥵🌶️ angebratenes Schweinefleisch. Der Rest sind Banchan- koreanische Beilagen. Hier mit Seetang Suppe, Rettich Kimchi, Fish Kuchen, Salat und Saucen. Das war soooo lecker und die haben sich so gefreut , dass es uns geschmeckt hat. Alles für nur 7 Euro pro Person.
And then we did the probably most Korean thing you can do. 😂 go to a convenient store and buy ice in a cup, coffee in a bag and Korean banana milk. mix it and Nomnomnomnomnom 😋 I missed it so much.
Und dann haben wir das wohl koreanischste gemacht, das man tun kann. Ab in den Mini- Supermarkt und Eis im Becher, Kaffee in der Tüte und koreanische Bananenmilch. Mixen und Nomnomnomnomnom 😋. Das habe ich vermisst.
- Travelling back home.🥰 Aufi geht’s nach Hause. 🥰
We leave with one crying and one laughing eye. The last 4 months were fantastic and the experience of a lifetime. All four countries were amazing, some more, some less, but I wouldn’t want to miss one of them. What would I do different next time? Apart from travel lighter nothing 😀.
Wir fliegen heim mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge. Die letzten 4 Monate waren phantastisch und die beste Erfahrung unseres Lebens. Ale vier Länder waren toll, manche mehr, manche weniger, aber ich würde nicht eins missen wollen. Was würden wir nächstes Mal anders machen? Nichts, außer weniger Gepäck. 😀

It was a bit late yesterday after Banpo Bridge so we just bumbled around Myeong-dong and picked up some streetfood for dinner at the night market.
Es war gestern dann ein bisschen spät nach Banpo Bridge, also sind wir durch Myeong-dong gebummelt und haben Streetfood auf dem Nachtmarkt zu Abend gegessen.

For the evening we went to Banpo Bridge to see the light and water show. It also gave us a nice view of Seoul Skyline at sunset.
Abends sind wir zur Banpo Brücke gegangen um die Licht und Wassershow zu sehen. Der Ort ermöglicht auch eine schöne Sicht auf die Seoul Skyline bei Sonnenuntergang.

- We did it again – Michelin Star Restaurant for lunch. Wir haben es wieder getan, ein Michelin Star Restaurant zum Mittagessen.
It’s got a Michelin Star for a few years now. There are only 4 dishes on the menu. No drinks, but as everywhere in Korea you get free water. Restaurant is very popular, so we had to queue. It it had a quick turnaround. The atmosphere of the restaurant was more like a station restaurant. You had to pay when ordering, but the food was delicious.
Das Restaurant hält seinen Michelin Star seit ein paar Jahren. es gibt nur 4 Gerichte auf der Speisekarte. Keine Getränke, aber wie überall in Korea gibt es kostenloses Wasser. Das Restaurant ist sehr populär, also mussten wir warten. Aber es ging schnell. Die Atmosphäre war mehr ein Bahnhofsrestaurant. Man musste gleich bei Bestellung bezahlen und alles ging sehr schnell. Aber das Essen war köstlich.
We ordered 3 of the 4 dishes. Bibim Gucksu – cold noodles with spicy pepper sauce, Mandu – handmade pork filled steamed dumplings and my favorite – Kalguksu – ox bone broth with hand cut noodles. Everything was so flavourful. 😋 And by the way – only 34.000 Won, which is about 25 Euros.
Wir haben 3 der 4 Gerichte bestellt. Bibim Gucksu – kalte Nudeln mit scharfer Paprikasosse, Mandu – handgemachte dim sind gefüllt mit Schweinefleisch und mein Favorit – Kalgucksu- Ochsenknochenbrühe mit handgeschnittenen Nudeln. Alles war sooo lecker 😋. Und nebenbei, nur 34.000 Won, das sind ca 25 Euro.
As you might figured out by now I am a big fan of soups and I love that Koreans have lots of different soup dishes and also serve soup with every main meal. The most popular food is rice with Banchan (side dishes), whatever kind of soup, but mostly seaweed soup and some protein of your choice. Arthur fell in love with Gojujang – Korean red pepper paste, so his favorites are Bibimbap – a ricebowl with veggies and protein and loads of red pepper sauce- or Bibim Gucksu- the same with noodles.
Wie ihr vielleicht bemerkt habt bin ich ein großer Suppenfan (schon immer) und ich liebe es, dass es in Korea viele Suppengerichte gibt und auch mit jedem Hauptmenü eine Suppe serviert wird. Das berühmteste Essen in Korea ist Reis mit Banchan (), einer Suppe – meist eine Meeresalgensuppe und ein Protein deiner Wahl. Arthur hat sich in Gochujang verliebt, koreanische scharfe rote Paprikapaste. Seine Favoriten sind Bibimbap – eine Reisschale mit Gemüse und Protein und viel roter Paprikasosse, oder Bibim Gucksu, das gleiche mit Nudeln.
- Café Onion Anguk
Yesterday we went to the highly recommended Cafe Onion for lunch. Café Onion Anguk is a traditional Korean Coffee house. Quite picturesque, therefore very popular, therefore you have to queue. But it’s worth the wait. The pastry is amazing.
Gestern sind wir zum sehr gehypten Café Onion zum Mittag gegangen. Das Café ist ein traditionelles koreanisches Kaffee Haus. Sehr pittoresk, sehr populär, man muss sich also anstellen. Aber das Warten lohnt sich, das Gebäck ist sehr lecker.
We were lucky to get a seat by the doors, so we didn’t have to take off our shoes and we could leave our feet hanging outside instead of sitting on them.
Wir hatten Glück und bekamen einen Platz am Rand, also mussten wir nicht unsere Schuhe ausziehen und konnten unsere Füße baumeln lassen anstelle auf ihnen zu sitzen.
We ended up with 2 iced Lattes, a chocolate scone, a pistachio croissant and a garlic and cheese bread for lunch. The pastry was amazing, but the what we expected to be savoury garlic bread was sweet as well. Very unusual and not very nice for our European taste.
Wir bestellten 2 Eiskaffee, ein Schokoladen Scone, ein Pistazien Croissant und ein Knoblauch-Käse-Brot. Das Gebäck war sehr lecker, aber das Knoblauch Brit, das wir salzig erwartet haben war auch süß! Sehr ungewöhnlich und nicht sehr lecker für unseren europäischen Geschmack.
We were watching all the idiotic instagrammers taking millions and trillions of pictures while enjoying our lunch. Believe me, Koreans are the worst when it comes to take pictures.
Während wir unser Gebäck genossen haben und die idiotischen Instagrammer amüsiert, die Millionen bis Billionen Bilder gemacht haben. Glaubt mir, Koreaner sind die schlimmsten, wenn es ums Fotografieren geht.
For dinner we then went for a healthier option. Arthur had Korean braised pork with rice and I had Doenjang Jigae- soy paste stew with tofu. 😋 I fell in love with this dish. Of course we had Makgeolli with it .😂
Zum Abendessen haben wir dann die etwas gesündere Variante gewählt. Arthur hatte scharfes Koreanisches Schweinefleisch mit Reis und ich Doenjang Jigae – ein Soja Pasten Eintopf mit Tofu in den ich mich verliebt habe 😋. Und natürlich gab es Makgeolli dazu. 😂

Wiggle wiggle 🥰 - Makgeolli Brewery – Slow Brew Pub Gangnam
Yesterday we were looking for another Makgeolli bar and found Seouls first Makgeolli Brewery by accident. The brewery was founded to make fresh Makgeolli more accessible to city people. Very nice and very popular. Several well known K-Dramas were filmed there, like Vincenzo, twenty five twenty one and Itaewon Class.
You could choose your Makgeolli by seasons. Spring, summer, Autumn and winter. The later in the year the more carbonated Makgeolli develops, but only between 1 and max. 10 days. We chose spring and it was delicious 😋.
Gestern haben wir nach einer Makgeolli Bar gesucht und sind durch Zufall auf Seouls erste Makgeolli Brauerei gestoßen. Die Brauerei wurde gegründet um frischen Makgeolli auch für Seoul Bürger leichter zugänglich zu machen. Sehr schöne Bar und sehr populär. Einige gut bekannte K-Dramas wurden dort gefilmt wie Vincenzo, twenty five twenty one und Itaewon Class.
Man konnte seinen Makgeolli nach Jahreszeiten auswählen, je später im Jahr desto mehr kohlensäurehaltig wird der Drink. Aber er ist max 10 Tage alt. Wir haben uns für Frühling entschieden und er war sehr lecker.

Only bar food though, but the beef pancakes were nice. The chicken was too sweet for our taste. But we experienced this quite often Koreans love their sweet stuff.
Leider gab es nur Barsnacks, aber die Pfannkuchen mit Rindfleisch waren lecker. das Hähnchen war für unseren Geschmack zu süß. Aber das haben wir schön öfter bemerkt, Koreaner lieben es süß.

The tombs of king Seolleung and his Queen Jeonghyeon, and their son Jeongneung the following king of Joseon Dynasty. Perfectly located according to the Feng Shui Theory in the middle of Gang Nam. No Wonder Gang Nam is the most expensive area in Seoul. And of course the tombs are UNESCO World heritage.
Die Gräber von König Seolleung und seine Königin Jeonghyeon und deren Sohn Jeongneung der nachfolgende König in der Joseon Dynastie sind perfekt nach dem Feng Shui Prinzip mitten in Gang Nam platziert. Kein Wunder, dass Gang Nam die teuerste Gegend in Seoul ist. Und natürlich sind die Gräber wieder ein Unesco Weltkulturerbe.

- Chimaek- Korean Chicken and Beer
Koreans favorite after work dinner. They love it so much that they created a name for it. Chimaek is the combination of chikin and maekju (beer). It’s served at special chimaek Restaurants. They do not much more than different types of Chicken and draft beer. They have chicken with different sauces on the menu. But I don’t like that and this restaurant did not offer a half-half portion, so Arthur had the sauces as dips on the side. It’s typically served with pickled radish, which is delicious and goes very well with it.
Korea Lieblings Afterwork Essen. Sie lieben es so sehr, dass sie dafür einen eigenen Namen kreiert haben. Chimaek ist die Kombination aus Chikin (Hähnchen) und maekju (Bier). Es wird in speziellen Hähnchenrestaurants serviert. Die machen nicht viel mehr als verschiedene Hähnchen und Bier vom Fass. Man kann die Hähnchen in verschiedenen Soßen bestellen. Ich mag das aber nicht und da dieses Restaurant keine halb-halb Portion angeboten hat, hatte Arthur die Soßen als Dip. Es wird mit eingelegtem Rettich serviert, der ist lecker und schmeckt hervorragend dazu.

We had Chimaek once before and that restaurant offered a half-half portion. And had homemade bread! Sooo delicious 😀.

First thing I’ll do back home is spend a fortune at our local cheese shop and buy a proper bread at the local bakery. 😂
Das Erste, das ich zu Hause machen werde ist ein Vermögen in der Käseecke ausgeben und in der Bäckerei ein gescheites Bauernbrot kaufen. 😂
- Back in Seoul – Gang Nam Style
We’re back in Seoul and stay in Gang Nam for a few days bevor we move on to our last stop Seoul Myeong-Dong. Seoul is so big that you better explore it per district. Otherwise you spend hours on the tube or bus.
Wir sind zurück in Seoul und bleiben ein paar Tage in Gang Nam bevor wir zu unserer letzten Station Seoul Myeong-dong ziehen. Seoul ist so groß, dass man es besser Gebietsweise erkundet. Sonst verbringt man nur Stunden in der U-Bahn oder im Bus.

Very interesting museum, it took us over 4 hours to walk through it. Lots of history but well explained and easy to learn. 50 years of fight for independence from Japan.
Sehr interessantes Museum, wir haben über 4 Stunden hier verbracht. Sehr viel Geschichte, aber sehr gut erklärt und einfach zu verstehen. 50 Jahre Kampf um Unabhängigkeit von Japan.
We were lucky that they also held a cultural event with traditional food on the grounds. So we got a little bit more fun out of the visit.
Wir hatten Glück, dass an diesem Wochenende auch ein Kulturevent mit traditionellem Essen stattgefunden hat, so war der Besuch für uns noch interessanter.

- Muwol Makgeolli Bar
We love Makgeolli! 😋 So after dinner we went to a Makgeolli Bar. Makgeolli is a traditional Korean rice wine which recently gained popularity again. So there are a lot of Makgeolli breweries and bars now experimenting with new flavours. Traditional Makgeolli is served at every restaurant and it super cheap. Like 4000 Won which is 2,80 Euros for a Liter. So we’re drinking that with nearly every dinner. 😂 Of course the bars are more expensive, but the flavours were awesome. We ordered green grape and chestnut. Both very nice, but chestnut was soooo creamy. 😋😋😋
Wir lieben Makgeolli! 😋 Also sind wir nach dem Abendessen in eine Makgeolli Bar gegangen. Makgeolli ist ein traditioneller koreanischer Reiswein, der seit kurzem wieder sehr populär ist in Korea. Deshalb gibt es eine Menge Makgeolli Bars und Brennereien, die mit dem Geschmack experimentieren. Traditioneller Makgeolli wird in jedem Restaurant für 4000 Won der Liter angeboten, das sind 2,80 Euro. Deshalb trinken wir ihn fast zu jedem Abendessen. 😂 Natürlich sind die Bars teurer, aber die Geschmäcker waren super lecker. Wir haben grüne Traube und Marone bestellt. Beide waren lecker, aber Marone war soooo cremig. 😋😋😋
- Fortress/ Festung Hwaseong
After the Cave we drove on to Suwon. In the afternoon we visitors the fortress and walked along the old city wall of Hwaseong.
Nach der Höhle sind wir weitergefahren nach Suwon. Am Nachmittag haben wir dort die Festung Hwaseong besichtigt und sind auf der alten Stadtmauer entlangspaziert.

- Gwangmyeong Cave, Gyeonggi-do
Developed by the Japanese in 1912 the cave was a source of forced labour and exploitation during the Japanese colonial period. After its closure is was used as a storage for salted shrimps for over 40 years until the government bought it and transformed it into a cave theme park. When you enter the cave they tell you about its former history and usage.
Entdeckt durch die Japaner in 1912 war die Höhle eine Quelle für Zwangsarbeit und Ausbeutung während der Kolonialherrschaft der Japaner. Nach der Schließung wurden die Höhlen als Lagerplatz für gesalzene Shrimps für 40 Jahre genutzt, bis die Regierung die Höhlen kaufte und in einen HöhlenThemenpark umbaute. Wenn man die Höhlen betritt erfährt man über die Geschichte der Höhlen.
Unfortunately we were too early and the wine restaurant was still closed.

Which car is ours 🤭? - And we’re off to Seoul again. Aufi geht’s zurück nach Seoul.
We’re starting a small mainland roadtrip from Seoul for a few days. Our first stop will be Gwangmyeong. About an hour south of Seouls domestic Airport Gimpo.
Wir starten eine kleine Rundreise auf dem Festland für ein paar Tage. Unser erster Stopp wird Gwangmyeong. Ca eine Stunde südlich von Seouls Inlandsflughafen Gimpo.
Hahahhaha And we arrived save and sound. We’ve got the same car again, so that’s quite easy. A KIA K3 new. Quite starting to like these cars. But traffic in Seoul is horrific, 1,5 hrs for 18 km. 😂
Wir sind gut angekommen. Wir haben wieder das gleiche Auto wie auf Jeju, das war also einfach. Ein KIA K3 new, ich fange an diese Autos zu mǒgen. Aber der Verkehr in Seoul war unglaublich, 1,5 Stunden für 18 Km. 😂

This was a pretty expensive dinner for us. Around 50 Euros. But it was really good and worth a try.

- Lunafall – Jeju light park. Jeju Lichterpark
In the evening we went to Lunafall – light park in the woods of Jeju. It was beautiful, but quite a challenge for my foot. Uneven grounds in the dark.
Abends sind wir in den Lichterpark Lunafall in den Wäldern von Jeju gegangen. Wunderschön, aber eine Herausforderung für meinen Fuß. Unebene Wege und im Dunkeln.
These moon balls were quite innovative. At displays you could put them in a kind of reader and the display changed.
Diese Mondbälle sind ziemlich innovativ. Man konnte sie in Leser stellen und dann hat sich die Darstellung verändert.

- Figure museum Jeju
On our way we saw this museum and thought we give it a try. It was better than we expected.
Auf unserem Weg haben wir dieses Museum gefunden und dachten das probieren wir aus. Es war besser als wir erwartet hatten.
- Jusangjeollidae – cliffs on the south coast. Klippen an der Südküste.
These cliffs were amazing. Wonders of nature. Wahnsinnige Klippen, Winder der Natur.
And we saw some haenyeo divers. Amazing women diving up to 30 meters deep without gear to catch seafood for a living. Most of them are in their 80ies. the way of catching seafood is a Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Und wir haben einige haenyeo Taucherinnen gesehen. Sie tauchen bis zu 30 Meter tief ohne Geräte um Seafood zu fangen. Schwere Arbeit und leider eine aussterbende Kultur. Die meisten sind bereits um die 80 Jahre alt. Die Art seafood zu fangen ist Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
